Since my wife and I plan to spend three weeks in Sliema during February, 1998, I'm beginning to search for information that will make our visit more interesting and enjoyable. Any suggestions you can make to assist us will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

John Fiorentino <> Live in USA, Born in Brindisi Italy - Sunday, September 21, 1997 at 15:29:25

Was searching for my own family web site and noticed that there are many hits under Fiorentino. Your web site looks fine, I just created mine last night and have much work to do to it. My URL is: It's still under construction, but I'll add more to it as I can on the weekends. I work at IBM and really don't use my home computer much on weekdays. Fiorentino isn't a very common name, would be interesting to know where it originated from.

Mark. I have really enjoyed your page on the Luqu festa - You have reminded me of my teenage years spent in Malta (many years ago!) I went to school very near Luqa at Tal Handaq.Malta holds a special place in my heart even after all these years. I have visited it twice since those days and hope to come there again. Best wishes to you and your family.Joy Jones

Marc, your page was an unexpected goldmine. I enjoyed your weaving together of self, friends and culture - and I respect your talent in doing so. But this space commemorates a short trip we took this summer. For a fortnight, the hatred we harbored as children, the fear we cultivated with ignorant fervor and the indifference toward the residents of other nations faded as we shared meals, minds and embraces. In the beginning, we were individuals, representing 60 not necessarily peaceful nations, with youthfully open minds, we remain the same today. What has been altered is the depth of our thought, the sincerity of our consideration and our capacity to love. The spirit of the London International Youth Science Forum has permeated each of us. We have only to retain the faintest memory of this conference to perpetuate the brotherhood we attained. Let the spirit live on!

I'm thinking of visiting Malta someday - perhaps on my honeymoon if I ever get married! Do you know the three-letter abbreviation for the international airport on Malta (in Luqa?)? I would be particularly interested in visiting during the festival for St. Andrew since he is my namesake! Also, it is likely that I'll be honeymooning in late June-early July since I'm a medical student (June-July is usually when I take my holiday). What other events/places would I want to see when I'm there?

Dear Mark , I think your page is quite amusing and refreshing in its own way - except for your photograph -I suggest you remove that!!! (just a mean joke). I'm at Elaine's and having great fun commenting behind your back about you and your page - but then it's cruel of me to make you suffer the pangs of curiosity when there is no way you can hear those comments so I'll be a good christian and just shut my big mouth. Anyway I enjoyed visiting your little corner and I hope to do it more often. Since I am running out of witty (!!!) things to say I'm just going to say au revoir before you start snoring with boredom. ciao. lots of love, Julie.

Really Great Page !!!!

Paolo Ferigo (Italy) .................................. 08/03/1997

Hi Mark
Ciao, Paolo

Dear Mark,
Well done on your site. It is nice to see that people have these types of cultural interests. It is a great idea publishing information about such an old tradition on one of the newest forms of communication. Keep it up and let me know if you have any developments.

Tony Sammut (UK) ...................................... 06/02/1997

Dear Mark
Thanks for the email, I was pleased to check out your Maltese Feasts page, and you're right, it is very unique.
I have been to several Feasts while on holiday in Malta, mostly the one at Hamrun, it is in August as you know, and usually coincides with our visits, and my family is mainly from Marsa, so it is just over the bridge. My late grandfather used to organise the fireworks from the San Gejtanu band club.
Unfortunately, I don't have any photos to scan, but the ones you have are excellent and I hope to see more.
Tony Sammut

A great start on your page. I started one yesterday and don't know what I am doing.

How did you use various colors and fonts?
How did you get the pictures on the page?
Keep up the good work. Your page looks good.

John Jacono (Canada) .................................. 22/01/1997

I came across your photos - Luqa feast - in Grazzio Falzon's home page and decided to look you up - found your home page. Wanted to make a couple of comments.
[1] Try to borrow a better scanner for your pictures and try to include more of them - for example I know where you can get some of St. Geatan's feast - right in your village. You have no idea how powerful those images are for us living away. I can almost guarantee that your visitors will also increase exponentially.
Many thanks

Hector Farrugia (Luqa, Malta) ......................... 22/01/1997

Dear Mark,
I suppose you are too young to know me, but I am from Luqa, born and thoroughly bred.
I am trying to send you an html file about something which may interest you.
I have come to know about your home page from GRAZZJU' s Malta virtwali (popularly known as the Fred Net) as also from Malta Links. You see, you are quite popular over here in our computer. When I have a moment's chance I try to browse through Maltese Home Pages (since my work is on the Magnet - if you know what that means). And so I found out some new sites and browsed through them, obviously finding your home page.
Keep it up and try to expand it further by tracing the history of LUQA. I have too much on my hands at the moment to do it myself.
One small suggestion. It would be much better if the photos are kept as small as possible - at least half of what they actually are. BUT put a link to them so that any browser may enlarge the said photos to their proper actual size, if you know what I mean.
Hector Farrugia
